Bio

Marcy Dronen is a lifetime resident of North Dakota. She grew up on a farm between Finley and Sharon in Steele County.  She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota with majors in art and music. In 2005, Marcy earned a Master's Degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead in Curriculum and Instruction. She has taught band and art in the Fargo Public schools since 1998. Marcy retired from teaching in 2018 and now devotes more time to her own art and waiting on her cat, Maxwell.

Marcy has loved art since she was very young and saw her grandmother draw a horse on a brown grocery bag.That was magic! She has spent many years learning new things about making art and loves painting in watercolor and acrylic.

Marcy is a member and past president of the Red River Watercolor Society and current secretary of the Fargo Moorhead Visual Artists. She has received awards in regional and national art shows.  Marcy participates in the annual FMVA Studio Crawl the first weekend in October.

When not making art, Marcy plays French horn in the Lake Agassiz Symphony Winds and the FM Brass Quintet.
